Shocked as groom reveals unforgivable reason his brother wasn’t invited to wedding

A man’s speech explaining that his brother wasn’t invited to his wedding because he ‘stole’ his first wife has left Reddit users divided on whether it was the right decision.

In a controversial Saturday, June 18 post shared on Reddit’s Am I The A** Hole forum, which can be read here, user TorontoMapleLeafs3 said his relationship with his brother Thomas, 34, soured after that he “got involved” with his first wife. .

According to a 2021 study of 441 people by Florida-based medical laboratory Health Testing Centers, about 46.1% of respondents said they had cheated in a relationship.

TorontoMapleLeafs3 said his parents “forced” him to keep the episode a secret and he will continue to meet his now wife.

He added that when the wedding date approached, his parents asked him to invite Thomas and then made him feel guilty when he refused.

The Reddit user then posted, “They came to the wedding looking crazy asking what we were going to tell people when they asked about Thomas. I told them I would take care of it and what what I did was take a moment while everyone was paying attention.

“[I] grabbed the mic and bluntly announced this and said “the reason I didn’t invite Thomas to my wedding was because I was afraid he would steal my new wife like he stole the first .””

He later added, “I said it playfully so as not to make it so tense, but most of the guests looked shocked and started mumbling, and then it all went eerily quiet for a while. Then we continued, but I saw mom and dad walk out looking at me reluctantly.”

The Reddit user later explained that his parents were furious with him, but he stood his ground and said Thomas’ actions were “unforgivable”.

Newsweek has contacted TorontoMapleLeafs3 for comment.

While many users said they understood why the man gave the speech, several said he was somewhat misjudged.

A Reddit user posted, “Yeah, that ad wouldn’t have made me feel good as a second wife. But that’s me. And I 100% understand why OP (original poster) said what he said. F*** Thomas.”

Another added: “I think his intention was to make it look like a joke. His wife obviously got it.”

A third commenter posted: “I think the point is that while Thomas is definitely to blame for his behavior and certainly doesn’t deserve to be forgiven or his behavior overlooked or shoved under the rug, the first wife was doing it too part .

Announcing that he feared Thomas would do the same with the second woman, rather than just saying he did it with the first, somehow implies that he doesn’t fully trust the second woman. . I would mind if I was that woman.”

But others suggested other ways the poster could have given the speech that would have ended on a more romantic note.

One said: ‘I think it might have been better to say something like ‘first I would like to thank Thomas. If he hadn’t slept with my first wife. I would have never met the true love of my life who I am honored to marry today.'”
