Tesla plans new service center in Lenexa, Kansas

LENEXA, Kan. – Electric vehicle company Tesla may soon open a new service center in West Lenexa.

On Monday, the Lenexa Planning Commission will review a preliminary plan to create a Tesla auto repair shop on vacant land near West 101st Terrace and Lackman Road. KANCO, LLC intends to construct a 35,095 square foot automotive repair center for electric vehicles.

Electric vehicle owners would enter the proposed commercial site from the 101st Terrace and drive around the building to a fenced and gated parking lot on site.

The repair shop would include 21 service bays, as well as several bays for washing, painting and repairing vehicles inside the building. More than half of the proposed 113 parking spaces would be secured in an outdoor storage area at the south end of the property.

If the planning commission approves the preliminary plan, the project will be submitted to Lenexa City Council for consideration on Tuesday, April 19.

The city council must approve a final development plan on the property before construction can begin.
